1. Types of Services

a. Individual psychotherapy is the treatment of choice when an individual is beset by anxiety or depression or external stressors, when there are present negative thinking habits such as obsessive worrying, panic attacks, self-blame, guilt, and too much time spent thinking about past mistakes. Low self-esteem, feelings of inadequacy, and performance anxiety are also issues that can be treated in individual therapy. Therapy takes into account the historical development of such problems, but utilizes the natural problem-solving ability of the individual to learn how to perceive problems as opportunities for personal growth rather than reasons to fail.

. b. Couples Therapy is indicated whenever one or both members of a partnership are unhappy with the relationship or the other partner. The focus of such treatment is to improve communications between the two people, learn how to focus on here-and-now problems instead of always bringing up past issues, and to build on mutual love and respect, while using problem-solving techniques to resolve conflict.

Non-medical treatment of insomnia

Insomnia takes on special significance, since it can lead to more serious health problems, and can also be a symptom of more serious psychological or medical problems. Thus, before undergoing psychological treatment of this disorder, it is imperative to seek medical evaluation to rule out such other causes. The psychological , or non-medical treatment of insomnia includes learning proper sleep hygiene as well as learning how to interrupt and avoid the worrying that often causes or accompanies insomnia.

Sleep hygiene

Many people, in their efforts to obtain a good night's sleep, fall into unhealthy habits such as leaving the television or lights on when going to bed, getting up and exercising, going to bed at varying times, and relying on sedatives.
